Enduring Memories process is to undertake an as-told-to memoirs, biography or life story to date, with variations for ghostwritten or
third-person narratives, involving the following:

Firstly, we provide the subject with a list of suggested questions covering various topics such as family background, childhood memories, careers, love and marriage, parenthood, golden years, ethnic heritage and memories etc.

Next, we video interview the person(s) telling the story in as efficient, compelling, and effective way possible, usually in two sessions about four weeks apart. Nearly always, our interviewer goes to the subject's home, office, or other venue of his or her choice, regardless of distance. If this is not convenient, Enduring Memories has a studio that can be used for this purpose.

Thirdly, the interview is transcribed and the transcription edited into manageable shape, and the subject is shown a Preliminary Draft copy for review. By doing this we can make sure we're communicating accurately. It also helps the subject think concretely about what should be included, added, or deleted.

Fourthly, we spent a lot of time doing further editing and revising. Supplementary materials, such as photographs, records, charts, medical, military and educational information is organized and scanned for inclusion into the final document. The subject and occasionally other family members review the manuscript until they are satisfied with it.

Most of our manuscripts are written in a polished, literate, and conversational flow. They tend to be well organized and paced, rather than rambling or stream of consciousness, and are written in the voice of the original person narrating the story.

If requested, we can insert prose from a third-persons point of view. We strongly prefer however, to use the authenticity and immediacy of the subject's own voice and work with it so that the subject's thoughts, and own unique voice, are communicated to full advantage.

Next, we co-ordinate a design and liaise with the subject about it; scan in the photographs and other supplementary materials; organise and input the text and graphics. The formatted draft is proofread and then is shown to the subject for final revisions. In fact, the book is proofread several times. The subject then reviews and signs approval of the final production.

Finally, Enduring Memories sends the project specifications to our print shop and binder. Prior to this and depending upon the subjects request, options are provided, including printer, binder, papers, cover materials, text stock, etc, with sufficient explanation for informed decisions. Then we co-ordinate our printer and bindery for quality control.

The books are then delivered.

Of course, if our client requests, we conduct research, translation services in many languages, and other appropriate tasks.

Costs vary widely, just as other projects and long-term investments do. However, it is not inappropriate to compare them to a wedding, or a kitchen or bathroom remodeling project. It is a capital expense, indeed, and its value, priced over its lifetime, is self-apparent to our clients. The value is that it functions like a spinal cord, connecting families from generation to generation in an energetically whole, healthy way.

Key Benefits:

  • Your work will be completed in a short time period
  • Your work will be professionally presented
  • The whole service is efficient and affordable
